I have been a health writer for many years and had read that inflammation might be at the root of many illnesses, including heart disease. In fact, the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control have suggested that low-grade or chronic inflammation caused by environmental factors or genetics can contribute to changes in the blood vessels of the heart. That can increase your risk for heart attack.
When I heard about the anti-inflammatory properties of the Betalains in the Nopal Cactus Juice, I was very intrigued. Although I am healthy, I wanted to be sure to begin drinking the juice as an important preventive measure. I was also very happy to find that the juice helped my seasonal allergies. For the first time in years, I did not have to take medication for sinus headaches or red, itchy eyes.
I have my husband drinking the juice, as well as my college-age daughter. My husband is looking forward to reduced discomfort from arthritis, as well as the heart-healthy benefits. Our son is in the Marine Reserves and is being deployed to Afghanistan, where he will be stationed from June 2010 until sometime in late spring of 2011. We look forward to his safe return.
